Completed the 2nd edition of the “Cortina Smart Road” program.

Cortina Smart Road, the first Living Lab in the Dolomites developed within the Dolomiti Innovation Valley program, was created on the initiative of Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti, Anas and ELIS Innovation Hub, with the support of D-flight, Area Science Park and Industrio Ventures, with the aim of promoting mountain territories and excellence throughopen and collaborativeinnovation .

The Living Lab Cortina Smart Road represents a new expression of the relationship between technology and mountains, in which smart infrastructure increasingly becomes an enabler of solutions in response to community needs. Together with Anas and Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti, with support from D-Flight, Industrio Ventures, Area Science Park and through collaboration with public agencies, local companies and innovative startups, the 2023 edition of the program tested concrete solutions to improve safety, emergency management and sustainable mobility, with the aim of enhancing the excellence of the Dolomite territory and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.

The program develops system projects, through the involvement of different stakeholders who bring different knowledge, assets and viewpoints, in order to implement and test innovative technologies, based on shared needs and real-world test applications.

Four projects developed in this edition accumulated through the use of the Anas Smart Road digital platform.

The Aiway platform: a technological solution developed by the startup of the same name to assess the condition of road surfaces and road markings to meet the need of the municipalities of the BIM Piave Belluno Consortium. The solution was tested with the support of Valpe Ambiente s.r.l and Municipal Police of the municipality of Borgo Valbelluna.

NIDO: platform for equipping, take-off and landing of remotely controlled drones usable in emergency situations developed by UST Italia with the supervision of D-FLIGHT on need and with the support of SUEM 118 and Corpo Nazionale Del Soccorso Alpino E Speleologico – 2nd Zone Delegazione Dolomiti Bellunesi.

Phoenix: state-of-the-art radar technology and data analysis system tested on the real-life case of landslides along Valsugana Highway 47. The project saw being tested the reliability of the data, the integrability with smart systems and at the same time the training of Anas specialists in the processing processes.

The event also marked the launch of the fourth project, in which startup NEXT Modular Vehicles, Cortina Foundation and Anas will collaborate to test a state-of-the-art modular vehicle designed to transport people in mountainous environments.

Cortina Smart Road is the agora where science and technology dialogue to solve shared needs. A spotlight on the future with the goal of improving the quality of life in the Dolomite territories.
